New Products for 2010

Wednesday, April 7, 2010

I'm not sure who decides the "Best New Product" at the annual PGA Golf Show in Orlando FL, but I think they were way off the mark this year.

The honor was given to a product that makes the positioning of your GPS system a lot more convenient. It has a bunch of powerful little magnets that mounts on the roof support of a golf cart. While it is somewhat of a useful product - I can certainly see its value - I have a couple of problems with this being "Best New Product of the Year." First of all, not everyine HAS a GPS system; those that do have probably already come up with a workaround. Secondly, as I recall, a lot of courses up north have carts without roofs. That kind of make this product obsolete.

My selection would be the new divot repair tool from Flix Golf (www.flixgolf.com). This product is reminiscent of a switchblade; the repair tool pops out with the push of a button. No more reaching into your hand into your pocket and stabbing yourself. It also features a magnetic ball marker; how convenient.

I can see this becoming a big seller in the corporate world. Any business can put their logo on the ball marker or better yet, personalize it for their clients.

I can't wait to see next year's selection.
